Reporting from Spaceflight Now, SpaceNews, Space.com and NASASpaceflight centers on what Flight 13 has to prove: whether Starship can deploy 20 functioning Starlink V3 satellites on a suborbital mission, briefly link them to the network, and show that fixes after Flight 12 are working. Coverage says Booster 20 and Ship 40 are both first-flight vehicles, and the mission is set for a 90-minute window opening at 22:45 UTC from Starbase. Spaceflight Now
SpaceX will debut its long-promised Starlink Version 3 satellites as part of a suborbital test flight of its Starship rocket on Thursday evening. Liftoff from Pad 2 at SpaceX’s Starbase facilities in southern Texas is scheduled during a 90-minute window that opens at 5:45 p.m. CDT. SpaceX is launching this mission using Booster 20 and the Ship 40 upper stage. Both stages are flying for the first time and SpaceX will not attempt to recover either for reuse.
